Counter Sales Rep - Rexdale Branch

Summary of Position:

Province-Electric is a full-line, service-oriented, electrical distributor. Customer Service is the key to our success. We are currently hiring for Order Desk Sales at our Rexdale location. The candidate is responsible for applying technical expertise to assist customers in their applications, in both pre-sales and post-sales situations. The candidate will also be providing customer quotations and information on products through phone, one on one, and presentation interactions with the customer. The ideal candidate is one who has solid customer service experience within the manufacturing and electrical/automation sectors and enjoys the challenge of learning multiple product lines. You have an above average ability to develop productive relationships with both customers and vendors alike. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with good problem-solving skills and ability to use Microsoft Office products and DDI Inform is required.


  • Develop strong relationships with current and potential customers by phone, fax, email and other correspondence.
  • Identifies and develops sales opportunities.
  • Provides customers with product and technical information.
  • Prepares quotations from specifications and works with vendors to obtain prices whenever necessary.
  • Checks customer orders prior to order-entry, to ensure accuracy.
  • Facilitates expediting by acting as liaison between customer and manufacturing/shipping.
  • Identifies, researches, and helps resolve customer or order related issues.
  • Prepares credit sales orders and arranges for pick-up of customer material
  • Promotes the Company’s products and services.
  • Attends customer service, sales, and product training meetings/events as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Highly organized and self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Must be polished and professional with above average interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills.
  • Excellent technical aptitude, networking skills, prospecting and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on attitude.
  • Must have a minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Must have accurate data entry skills.
  • Experience with DDI Inform an asset but not mandatory.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of previous experience in a counter sales or order desk role, at an electrical wholesaler.
